ThriftyU.com started as a small start up company in 2006. Regina Hunter Curry had been selling print advertising for a number of years and quickly saw that things were moving to an online platform. After lots of research she still wasn't sure exactly how to take the ideas live on a website. Immediately she knew that she needed a dedicated programmer to help with the parts of the functionality that she was less experienced in. She immediately got to work, hired a competent programmer and launched the first version of Thriftyu.com exclusively in Winston Salem.
It was during this time that she met her future husband, Greg Curry. Greg was working a full time job initially but helped in any way he could, especially when it came to encouraging Regina to continue forward as she left a full time job to start this new venture. 2007 brought even more changes as the initial rapid growth in the Winston Salem community continued. Greg left his job to join Regina and since then they have 3 communities open in NC that grow rapidly every week (Winston Salem, Greensboro and Kernersville).
People have often asked them what has contributed to the success of ThriftyU.com. They say that their intent is 2-fold: to give advertisers an inexpensive way to market and to give consumers access to a wealth of knowledge and get informed. While there are no easy answers they believe that the hard work and dedication to the people they work with has helped create a family experience with everyone involved. They have stayed true to the vision and truly have people's best interests at heart. "We really feel like servants to our communities and love the people here! Our goal is to bring information that will bless people and work with the best businesses to bring that information forward. The people using our site and our partners have made this a truly rewarding experience" says Regina.
